We developed and built a line consisting of 2 x 11 separate workplaces. They are connected to each other and each is used for the assembly of a different component. The result is a functional car light.

The line is equipped with universal tools and thus enables the assembly of several different types of lights. Two separate branches serve for the production of their left and right variants.

The individual assembly tables are height-adjustable and equipped with a set of devices for an ESD environment. Some of them also have an XYZ portal for easy handling of the screwdriver during assembly.

The line has a number of sensors and cameras for checking the correct installation, compliance with the assembly steps and testing the functionality of the parts. In addition, it works in traceability mode, which ensures 100% tracking and recording of the components used and the assembly procedure with an output certificate.

We used the following elements in the production of the line:

• Individual workplaces are controlled by the Simatic S7-1214 system.
• The interface for the operator is provided by the touch HMI panel KTP700 basic.
• Movements and fixation are solved using pneumatic cylinders. The individual mounting fixtures are deployed via the harting system, which enables quick connection of compressed air, power supply and communication.
• DOGA screwdrivers are equipped with monitoring of the number of used screws and the correctness of their screwing.
• FIAM screwdrivers also have monitoring of the screwing process, in addition, they are equipped with an automatic vibrating screw feeder.
• Gravity Material Feeders – There are supply racks with boxes containing parts for assembly at the workstations. The racks are equipped with a return branch for storing empty boxes.
